Yoke of Modern Education

Okay I guess I can say that this is the refined version of the homework epic. Written today during Math, and I did some illustrations during art, but too lazy to scan now xD

Yoke of Modern Education - By Alan Wong 11/14/07

From zero to one, from one to two
From dawn of day till dusk is due
From 5 AM to late at night
From when its dark till when its light

I awake each day, fresh and new
I step outside, see morning dew
Upon my back, a burden I hold
In hopes of a future, rich with gold

Thus begins each school day
And that routine is here to stay
Day in, day out, repetition
Never changes, no revision

To work and get good grades
Try real hard, get all A's
Take AP, more than one
To succeed, neglect fun

From this work, derive satisfaction
Don't lose pace, don't lose traction
To give up, means to fail
End up homeless, or in jail

Get to college, get there quick!
Learn the facts, and make them stick!
That is what they told me, that is what I heard
Their promises of riches is what has me lured

I'll take the tests, I'll pass the class
I'll study hard and learn it fast
But when I'm old and look to the past
Will it matter, will it last?

Childhood spent in hopes of fortune
I could have had a lot more fun
Time is lost, can't be regained
All to try for material gain

What is love? What is life?
Is my time worth this strife?
Tests and books, pens and pencils
Makes us students drawn with stencils

From this yoke, shall I be liberated?
Or my self to be obliterated?
Will I die with a PhD
But no love in life for me...
